The mounting of female by ,male is similar to cows. The male before mounting secretes 'dribblings' in large amounts and fixes his forelegs around the female hip and grasps her firmly. The ejaculation is long, about 1 to 1 ? hours.
Both male and female must be in heat simultaneously to enable mating. The female pants when she is in heat and off fed.
Gauhati Zoo. Only recorded one case, cycle was 16 days, from date of one service to date of next. Chaturvedi reported cycle of 45 days.
