Note
Location Sabah Subject Distribution Species Sumatran Rhino (sumatrensis)

Royal Society Expedition. Camp 3 (8300 ft). It was here that ben Esoli first drew my attention to some tooth-marks on the bark of a tree, which he recognized as those of a rhinoceros, and he pointed out the rotten trunks which they had been eating, as is their wont. Camp 4, ridge at 10,000 ft - Rhinoceros ... frequented the high ridge. There can be no dount that on this 10,000 ft ridge, a few rhinoceros find a mountain refuge which connects with the undisturbed Pinosuk Plateau to the south and the precipitous Nalamud valley to the northm whence they may still have a mountain route to the Mount Templer Reserve. Bembangan Camp (5200 ft). It seemed just the place where the rhinoceros would come.
