Greater One-horned Rhino (unicornis)
Correspondent writing from Calcutta, says: "While out shooting a week ago with afriend we had the good fortune to come across a female rhinoceros lying upon her back in the soft mud of a creek. Moving cautiously, we just had time to take the photograph before the good lady discovered us, whereupon we had to beat a hasty retreat."
Unfortuntely no place stated. The image in the journal (digital copy) is not good enough to be sure of any of the details. I assume it is Rhinoceros unicornis in Bengal or Assam.
