Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros (R. unicornis Linn) cow with (presumptive) twin calves

Note
Location Assam Subject Reproduction Species Greater One-horned Rhino (unicornis)

Observation in Kaziranga, 24 July 1955. near Mora Difloo stream. Observed 3 rhino: a mother with her calf close to her amd about 12-15 yards away another calf, presumably without the mother. When we were talking, the second calf looked up and then immediately ran to join the mother and other calf. This must have been the first case of a rhino being seen with twin calves. The calves were about 3 years old, with same height and shape. The mother eventually walked away, the two calves followed close at heel.
