This coat of arms of the London society of chemist (& grocers), the predecessors of the pharmacists, dates from 1677. The original charter was granted by King James ! in 1617 and the society still functions today. This coat of arms served as the society’s logo for official purposes. The reference to the rhino and unicorn horn was for their thought to be medicinal properties.
