Tennants Auction – Summer sale, July 22, 2010 – lot 1176. African Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), circa 1913, anterior and posterior horns on original shield, anterior horn 50cm, posterior 21cm, mounted on prepared rhinoceros skin on domed boss, inscription on the reverse Hauptmann F. Reinhard D.O.A. 1913. This trophy was acquired by Fritz Reinhard of the Infantry Regiment 113 (Baden). Reinhard was appointed as captain of the protection unit for German East Africa and served in the German colonies (before World War I) where he also hunted.
