Black rhinoceros shot by Richard Meinertzhagen (1878-1967). “Baby” was his dog.
The rhinoceros was shot on 21 January 1904 near Nyeri, Kenya (Fort Hall). It was an old male. The animal was weighed (in pieces) in teh field, giving a result of 2521 lbs = 1145 kg + the viscera which were estimated about 500 lbs = 225 kg. Total about 1370 kg.
