Impression of pit trap

1941 Sody p138 fig20

Pit trap made to catch a rhinoceros alive. The top is made of branches covered by soil, which is partly removed in the illustration. This is an artist’s impression based on the narrative of the capture of a Javan Rhinoceros in the Dindigs, Malaysia in 1905 by O’Hara. The drawing was made for, and first published, in the 1941 book by H.J.V. Sody, p. 138, fig. 20.
