Two black rhino in Asa Zoo, Hiroshima, provided by Mr. Haruo Otsu.
Two black rhinos (michaeli) came to Hiroshima from Mombasa Kenya in July 14 1971. Hiroshima Asa Zoo had to estimate their age because they were born in the wild and no birth data. Hiroshima Zoo decided a male (named Kuro STD#:182) was 4 years old and a female (named Hana STD#:181) was 5 years old by their size. The male died in Sep. 11. 2011. His estimated age was 44. The female Hana is still alive. She is estimated 51 years old.
