Camerarius first edition

from Symbola et emblemata by Joachim Camerarius the Younger of Nurenberg (1534-1598) It was published from 1590 to 1604 in four volumes. These images engraved by Hans Siebmacher (1561- 1611) are from the second volume published in 1595. It is interesting to note that he uses the ‘Madrid’ rhino as his example contrary to that of Dürer. It is stated in the text that the source was an accurate drawing received from Spain.
