Buffon / Wandelaar

This image from a 1749 edition of the Comte de Buffon’s ‘Histoire Naturelle et Particulaire’ is interesting in that the back view of Clara from the Wandeleaar/Albinus print was used instead of the more common image drawn by Oudry in 1749. The Albinus prints were in general circulation by 1747 and possibly chosen before Oudry.
