Greater One-horned Rhino (unicornis)
The famous Kaziranga reserve is in great danger, when measures are not taken soon. The animal paradise on the Brahmaputra is offered up to automobiles and has become a pick nick spot for daytrippers. It is a sad scene when man sees how a strong rhino bull looks at a bus of tourists, who express their first meeting with nature wih loud music from a loadpeaker. In the winter of 1969, during my first visit, only elephants were allowed to transport visitors into the park.
