Expedition 1909. In highland of Gurage and Wolamo [between Addis Ababa and S.W.] There is no game in the area. Earlier there were herds of elephants and buffaloes, numerous rhinoceroses. Now that is all gone.

Expedition 1909. Area north of Lake Rudolf, also visited by Teleki 20 years before. All the big game is gone. The local chief Pyrrho mobilized his men against the game. He loved ivory, rhino horn and buffalo hide. He gave modern weapons to his men to fill his rooms with these goods. Animals were shot, and Pyrrho became rich. The game north of Lake Rudolf is forever gone, as always the same song.
