The Rhino & Elephant Foundation commissioned artist Keith Calder to sculpt a black rhinoceros as part of its fundraising efforts in 1990. A limited number of 450 were cast in bronze to be sold, each buyer being eligible to win the larger sculpture of a black rhino mother and calf, also by Keith Calder. Cost R200 each. (Anon. 1990e, REF Journal 3) Keith Calder, born 1959. The miniature bronze sculpture measures 13x6 cm (excluding base), available in Jan 1990 at R460.
