The text contains valuable information concerning Stephanorhinus kirchbergensis (Jäger), a species which on Chinese territory is very abundant: the most reliable S. kirchbergensis youngest occurrence is that from the Rhino Cave (Hubei Province), an early Late Pleistocene site very rich in S. kirchbergensis remains.
According to Tong (2012), “S. kirchbergensis is the most geographically and temporally widespread species among all the Dicerorhinae recovered in China".
