White Rhino (simum)
Between Nov 1963 and Oct 1964, 86 white rhino translocated from Umfolozi to Kruger NP. In Nov 1964, the first calf was seen, and since then 2 more have been seen. The white rhino had become extinct before the park was declared. The first animals offered by Natal Parks Board were taken in 1961. The cost of transport was borne by Messrs. Total Oil Products.
