Two would be poachers weree caught red-handed in Kaziranga during testing of an anti-poaching radio network financed by WWF. P. Lahan reported that two men were detected digging pits to trap rhinos and the radios were used to facilitate their arrest. They were sentenced to three month's imprisonment and fined. The radio network, financed through a WWF grant of $20,000 is the first installed in an Indian national park.
