Note
Location World Subject General Species All Rhino Species

First published 1854. There were several reprints. Note that "This book is a compilation. Herne is fictitious, and personifies Palliser and others in Africa, India, etc., relating verbatim from their books" (Phillips). It is higly probable that the encounter with a rhinoceros in the jungle south of Baroda is entirely made up and untrue as far as locality is concerned. (LCR)
