He suggested the animals be driven on foot into a small enclosure where they could be drugged. From there the animals could be transported by lory to the park. He estimated that the whole operation would last more or less 42 hours. The lorries then would have to maintain their maximum speed of 10 mph (16 kph).
Male calf born on 27 October 1978 named `Pretoriuskop'. In 1961, first white rhino were reintroduced in Kruger, 4 male and 2 female from Umfolozi, and put into the camp near Pretoriuskop. Mother is Matupa, father is Manung. Father was the first calf to be born in the park on 13 Nov 1965, the mother was born in the park on 29 March 1969.
