First white rhinos come to Philadelphia

Two one-year old white rhinos arrived on 1 May 1974, both born in San Diego Wild Animal park in spring 1973. They will share a portion of the large giraffe yard until their permanent enclosure is completed as part of Phase II of the African Plains Exhibit. The Zoo hopes to dedicate Phase II in summer 1975.
