Effectiveness against snake-bite. Even enlightened men have total trust in the medicinal value of rhinoceros horn against snake poison, and in many families, even those of the highest and most educated classes, in the interior, one will find a piece of horn carefully preserved. When one is bitten by a snake, the horn is soaked in warm vinegar for a while, and then attached to the wound. The capillary power of the horn is insufficient to be the reason for any curative power in case of snake bite. The explanation may be that the bite of some snakes is not actually harmful.
