In the 1585 edition, a rhinoceros is illustrated in Book III, p.8. It animal has the skin tubercles of the Dürer woodcut, but it lacks the typical hornlet; it faces right, and has a kind of scale with numbers 1 and 2 on the left.
In the 1763 the same illustration appears on p. 206, preceded by text on p. 205.

Es el Rinoceronte animal fiero, cuerpo grande, y de conchas guarnecido, san recias, que resisten al acero, de suerte que no puede ser herido; un cuerno en la nariz, anche, y somero, con que ofende, y tambien es defendido; nada, y corre veloz, y sueltamente, y nace este animal en el Oriente.
El Rinoceronte es animal de mucho cuerpo, y su alto dos vacas; tiene mucha fuerza, y es muy ligero, todo fu cuerpo tiene cubierto de recias conchas, y tiene un cuerno sobre la nariz, y los pies con tres dedos; el talle es como lechon, el color pardo. Otros animales de cuernos hay; pero por no los haver visto vivos no tratamos de ellos, que la noticia de Escritores antiguos no es bastante para saber la forma, y grandeza suya, que es el fin nuestro.
