Ticks found on 'Rhinoceros sp.' in Natal game reserves: Amblyomma hebraeum Amblyomma rhinocerotis Hyalomma truncatum Dermacentor rhinocerinus Rhipicephalus appendiculatus Rhipicephalus maculatus Rhipicephalus m?hlensi Rhipicephalus simus Rhipicephalus sp. near R. bequaerti - note: the next nearest record is Northern Tanzania Rhipicephalus zumpti (provisional) - note: prevalent in Mozambique, but rare in Zululand. R. zumpti has been synonymized with R. reichenowi, but may prove to be a valid species.

Ticks found on 'Rhinoceros sp.' in Natal game reserves: Amblyomma hebraeum Amblyomma rhinocerotis Hyalomma truncatum Dermacentor rhinocerinus Rhipicephalus appendiculatus Rhipicephalus maculatus Rhipicephalus simus Amblyomma marmoreum, off white rhino, may be a purely incidental occurrence (present in Zululand), thus far not recorded off rhino elsewhere. It cannot be A. sparsum, the Tortoise-Rhino-Buffalo-tick, as this species is not known in Zululand. It cannot be A. nuttalli, which does occur in Zululand, but as yet has never been recorded from rhino.
