1962 September, a rhino reported at Kasempa, between the Kaonde Hospital and the Nkenyauna stream, 1325-B-4.

1973 FAO survey. Surveys by UN/FAO Luangwa valley project, ended march 1973, estimated rhino population at about 12,000 with absolute minimum of 4000.

In June 1969 Dr E.K.Balon saw two near the lower Lufubu River (liendwe River). Phot lost. Wildlife guards have reported rhino signs in the area.

Rhino continue to be fairly frequently seen, both in north and south of park. Evidently fairly well established between the Nkala and Musa Rivers as well as in the northern sector. In 1971, R.D. Rohwer, of Zambia Safaris Ltd., reported 3 male, 2 female

In May 1969 Dr E.K. Balon reported seeing a rhinoceros on Chete Island in Lake Kariba. May have been a single individual.

Middle Zambezi, above Kafue confluence. 1972 Aug, rhino spoor reported by Wildlife Guard G. Nkoma east of Kariba road, in vicinity of Mbendele stream, 1628-B-3. Evidently a few remain in the area.
