At the request of the Dept. national Parks and Wildlife Management in Rhodesia, the South African Wildlife Foundation has now resolved to give financial assistance for relocating a breeding herd of Diceros bicornis in Gona-re-Zhou.
The relocation of wild animals so as to ensure their survival in the long run, is one of the most important tasks of the South African Wildlife Foundation. Grants have already been made towards the introduction of 40 white rhino in Kruger NP, and 56 white rhino were translocated from South Africa to Gorongosa and Maputo game parks in Mozambique. At the request of the Dept. National Parks and Wildlife Management, the Foundation has now resolved to give financial assistance for relocating a breeding herd of black rhino into the Gona-re-Zhou GR.
A breeding herd of black rhino is to be relocated into the Gona-re-Zhou GR in Rhodesia.
