Published without author, but the english journalist and taveller Andrew Wilson (1831-1881) is identified in Blackwood's Mahazine for July 1881, p.141-142

(Kathiawar) I was curious to see a flight between an elephant and a very fine rhinoceros which the Nawab had, and the quickness of whose motions was quite astonishing; but was told that every time the rhinoceros had been brought into the arena it had killed either a man or an elephant, and so it was no longer brought out to do battle.
