These unicorn horns were placed near the high altar of the Mariakerk in Utrecht on high feast days. Candlesticks were placed on their pointed ends. The unicorn was regarded as the symbol of the virgin’s chastity among other things. These horns are presently on display in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
