The Dutch artist Gert Bogels made this drawing in 1988. It depicts the male Indian rhinoceros living in Amsterdam Zoo (Artis) from 12 Dec 1978 to 24 May 1989. Saitaro was born on 20 December 1973 at Tama Zoological Park, Tokyo, marking Japan’s first birth for the species. On 10 December 1978 he was sent to Amsterdam.
