Rhino self transport

A method to let a rhinoceros transport itself by removing the bottom of the cage. The animal is guided by five men with ropes, while the sixth man behind the animal encourages the animal to walk.

This is an artist’s impression based on the narrative of the capture of a Javan Rhinoceros in the Dindigs, Malaysia in 1905 by O’Hara. The drawing was made for, and first published, in the 1941 book by H.J.V. Sody, p. 138, fig. 20.
