Movable Paper Toy – Rhinoceros. Rhinoceros Unicornis. Nr. 18. London/ Paris/ Berlin/ New York, Raphael Tuck & Sons, 1901-1910. ca. 24.5 x 12.5 cm. Chromolithographed cardboard Rhinoceros, die-cut and embossed, designed in England & printed in Germany (Bavaria). On the uncoloured reverse side its name in English and Latin along with a paragraph giving educational information. The figure is equipped with special patented, circular moving joints in the neck and legs, to enable it to be placed in several different lifelike positions. In total 8 series appeared, each boxed set containing 6 mechanical animals. One animal (of 6) from the series: “Father Tuck’s mechanical animals, series. III.
