
Mounted Rhinoceros sondaicus, Javan rhinoceros. This male animal was obtained alive in South Africa (obviously in transit from further east) around 1799. He lived for a while in the Schonbrunn park in Vienna. The hide was presented to the Natural History Museum in Vienna, see Antonius 1937. The museum records state that it was 14 months old.
