Sebastian Münster’s (1488-1552) Cosmographie universelle de Tout le Monde was the most successful and popular book of the 16th century. The first edition in german appeared in 1544. It was translated into six different languages. The Cosmographia passes through 24 editions in one hundred years. The french editions date from 1552 to 1575. The last was translated by François de Belleforest (1530-1583).
