White rhino at the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy. Female “Big Mama” is about 24 years old in 2008. She and her mate “Zulu” ( younger) have lived at the wildlife Conservancy since 1988, most of their lives. They have about 1000 acres to roam over. They were originally bred on Solio Ranch, in Laikipia. They are offspring from original South African imports.
The pair has been observed mating over the years but sadly no pregnancy ever resulted. Our Rhinos are also studies close up by the over 10000 Kenyan students that visit the Conservancy and orphanage each year.
