Two horned rhinoceros caught in Mlaysia in 1985. Robert Woodrow, seen in the picture, writes this (May 2015): “This is me in 1985 with what was at the time the only Sumatran rhino in captivity. It was caught in the forests of peninsular Malaysia as part of that disastrous program to save the species by a breeding program in selected zoos maintaining a stud book. The ungrateful beasts refused to cooperate. This individual never even made it to San Diego. It (a juvenile female) choked to death on a mango (NOT the one I was feeding her).”
