Black Rhinoceros (Diceros bicornis), Loita, British East Africa, 1909, by Rowland Ward, taxidermy horn, front horn 38cm, upper horn 25.5cm, on prepared skin (now in poor condition) with exposed taxidermy straw filler and wooden mould, on original oak shield with ivorine plaque inscribed Loita 1909, the reverse of the shield with gouged “RW” and vestiges of Rowland Ward label and painted number “101”, 45cm from the wall.
