Lincluden Bus stop

Coleman, Robbie|Turpie, Kirsty; The Lincluden Rhino

Fibreglass sculpture in Lincluden, Dumfries, Scotland. Dating from 1970s.

Originally a single rhino was erected on top of a bus stop. The upgrade of the A76 Kilmarnock to Dumfries road in 1998 meant that the location of the bus stop became vulnerable. After lobbying by local school children, the rhino was relocated approximately 100 metres from its original location, this time atop a mock bus shelter. A second rhino, this time a calf, was added to the sculpture. New mosaic panels, affixed to the mock bus shelter, were created by Kirsty Turpie through community workshops. The augmented sculpture was unveiled in 2019.
