In October 1963 Lasai arrived at the SDZ from Basel Zoo, Switzerland. In February 1965 Jaypuri arrived at the SDZ from Gauhati, India via dealer George Munro. Both animals were moved to the San Diego Wild Animal Park in April 1972. This breeding pair produced eleven calves from 1975 to 1994.
