The only printed example of the Kotdwara rhino is an engraving found in the second volume of the Oriental Annual for 1835, bound in between pages 4 and 5, lengthwise with the legend facing the spine (fig. 15-06). Just titled “The Rhinoceros”, additional printed information identified William Daniell as the draughtsman, James Redaway (1697-1858) as the engraver, James Yates as the printer, and Edward Bull as the publisher, with the date 1 October 1834. From Caunter, H.; Daniell, W., 1835. The oriental annual, or scenes in India. omprising twenty-five engravings from original drawings by William Daniell, vol. 2. London, Bull and Churton, pp. i-vi, 1-263. This volume is dated 1835 on the title-page but was available as early as October 1834 and already reviewed in November 1834 (in the Monthly Review for November 1834)
