Le Rhinoceros d’Asie. (also on same plate: L’Hippopotame.) This copy is signed (lower left) Janet Lange del. and (lower right) Annedouche sc. In the background is a group of elephants. – This plate is very similar to the one published in “Oeuvres complètes de Buffon: avec des extraits de Daubenton, et la classification de Cuvier, vol. 4: Mammiferes II. Paris, Furne et Comp.” – However, in most copies with that date there are no elephants in the background and the artists differ. There may have been several editions of similar dates with different plates, this needs to be verified.
