Quadrupeds Plate II, published by Friedrich Justin Bertuch in his Bilderbuch für Kinder, first edition of Weimar available in 1790 or 1792. The one-horned rhinoceros is modelled after the example of Buffon’s Histoire Naturelle of 1764 (see fig. 6). The male and female zebras in the middle are actually a Cape mountain zebra after Buffon, and a Quagga after a plate by George Edwards of 1758.
