The domestic rabbit, showing in the background a broadsheet with the rhinoceros Clara on the wall. This hand coloured print is from the 1770 quatro size edition of the Buffon series Histoire Naturelle. The image of the rhino is more pronounced in the drawing for this print. One can imagine why Clara broadsheets are so rare to find if other copies were also hung and forgotten on a barn wall.
