There is only one reference by Mentzel to the rhinoceros in Glogow (Glogau), undated, and with a wrong age (1). Although probably written without clear evidence, it would fit in with the journey in 1746 from Frankfurt (Oder) to Wroclaw (Breslau).

For in the year 1746 a Dutch skipper called Martje Dan (unless I am mistaken) brought a ten year old rhinoceros calf (the subject of the said copper-plate) with him and exhibited it in Berlin, Breslau, Glogau and many other places for payment. At the same time he offered for sale two copper-engravings [Kupferstich] of the animal in different sizes. The publishers would have done well to have had their plate engraved like either of these, for they could have had no better example.
