On the way from Marseille to Naples, the boat carrying the rhinoceros was reported in Civitavecchia, the main port for the city of Rome (source 5301; source 5302; source 5303; source 5304). There is no exact date, although d’Argenson (source 5304) wrote about this on 21 November from Paris.
Civitavecchia is a harbour town, 70 km north of Rome, and 280 km north of Naples.

… Päbstl. Stadt, nehmlich aus Civita Vecchia nicht unangeführt laſſen. Man vernimmt über Livorno von dannen, daß daselbſt ohnlängſt eine Galliotte, welche den berühmten Rhinoceros am Bord gehabt angelanget ſeye, und solle der selbe von dar weiters nach Neapolis abgeführet, und daselbſt in den Their-Garten des Königs beeder Sicilien gebracht werden. Es mag also seyn, daß die neuliche Nachricht, als ob dieses Ungeheuer bey seiner Embarquirung zu Marseille das Fahrzeug, worauf man selbiges gebracht hatte, umgestürzet und sich selbsten durch Schwimmen salviret habe, eine blosse Erdichting gewesen, oder daß man selbiges einzuholen und neuerlich in Verwahrung zu bringen, Mittel gefunden habe.

From Civita Vecchia. It is reported from Livorno that a galliot carrying the famous rhinoceros had recently arrived there, and that the rhinoceros was to be taken from there to Neapolis and then placed in the garden of the King of Sicily. It may therefore be that the recent report, that this monster, during its embarkation at Marseilles, overturned the vessel on which it had been brought and saved itself by swimming, was a mere fabrication, or that a means had been found to catch it and bring it into custody again.

Le gros rhinocéros que nous avons vu l’hiver dernier à la foire Saint-Germain, vient de périr par les mêmes causes avec son maitre et plusieurs passagers allant de Rome à Naples par mer, et tout l’argent qu’il avait gagné à son propriétaire au fond de la mer.

21 November 1749. The large rhinoceros that we saw last winter at the Saint-Germain fair has just perished from the same causes with its master and several passengers going from Rome to Naples by sea, and all the money that it had earned for its owner at the bottom of the sea.
