1747 / Gotha, Germany

Following an entry in the Fourierbuch for 19 June 1747, Duke Friedrich III saw the rhinoceros (here called ‘Renocerum’) in the Reithaus of Gotha Castle on 19 June 1747 (source 3451).

Gotha is 170 km west of Leipzig

* Friedrich III or Frederick III, Duke of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg (1699–1772) was Duke from 1732.

English translation
