| 1749, 14 January. The government stops the premium on killing rhinos. The numbers were increasing quickly and the rhinoceros is a shy animal, and less dangerous than a tiger. Since 1 Sep 1747 premiums had been paid for the killing of 526 rhinoceroses and 80 tigers, a sum of 606 rijksdaalders. |
