Abstract:Pressure and disturbance in Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (BBSNP) cause a decrease quality and quantity of habitat the Sumatran rhino. With these conditions it is necessary to rescue and protection of the habitat and population of the Sumatran rhino. To support these efforts, the data and information on areas chosen by a Sumatran rhino habitat in BBSNP is indispensable. The purpose of the study are to identify the environmental factors that influence the distribution of Sumatran rhinoceros, making the Sumatran rhinoceros prediction map and identify the landscape structure of habitats the Sumatran rhinoceros in BBSNP. This study using one of the methods Species Distribution Modeling (SDM) is Maximum Entropy (MAXENT) model. MAXENT models in this study used data collected presence of Sumatran rhinoceros in 2011-2014 and 13 environmental variables suspected to affect the presence of the Sumatran rhino. For the analysis of landscape structure, the landscape metric measurements are used in areas that have a high probability of finding the Sumatran rhino using BBSNP land cover 2014 and Patch Analyst software. MAXENT shows the model performance of distribution prediction of Sumatran rhinoceros in BBSNP has value of AUC as 0,939, where the value in the category very well to predict the presence of the Sumatran rhinoceros. Environmental variables that influence the presence of Sumatran rhinoceros in BBSNP are rainfall in June-July-August, distance from the plantation, slope, distance from the river, the rainfall in September-October-November, distance from the settlement, distance from roads, the rainfall in March-April-May and temperature. Spatially, in the middle of park is the suitable area for the Sumatran rhinoceros with an area of 25,940.80 hectares or only 8,28% of BBSNP. In a landscape scale, the Sumatran rhinoceros habitat has a diversity index and uniformity was good and had a big edge. In the class scale, the Sumatran rhinoceros is more like being in a primary forest with an average broadness to support the home range area and has a large edge
