1988, a devastating flood ravaged the park.
1998 another bad flood, in 3 phases: 25 June to 3 August 1998 (wildlife took shelter in the highlands); 13 August to 29 August 1998, and 3 September to 12 September 1998. The third pahse of the flood was slightly lower than 1988 levels at the 'Second Tower' near Mihimukh, although it was reported that in some areas, eg. Agoratoli, the water lecel exceeded that of 1988 by few centimeter. National Highway 37 was flooded at 4 or 5 places between Kohora and Burhapahar, and the road was closed from evening 5 Sep to morning 7 Sep.
