rhino poacher sentenced. Two men were fined R30 000 each for poaching on a game reserve and another was sentenced to seven years for possession of an illegal firearm in the Nelspruit District Court in Mpumalanga. According to prosecutor, Johan Joubert, Robert Mkansi and Eckson Ndlovu were sentenced after they pointed out the scene in the Sabie Sands Reserve where the carcass of the dead rhino, with its horn removed, was found in January last year. Magistrate J le Roux accepted this as proof of their involvement. Ballistic tests proved that an AK-47, found in the possession of Chades Selekane, was responsible for the slaying of the animal. Mr Selekane was sentenced to seven years imprisonment for the possession of the weapon and two years for the possession of ammunition.
