There was a near total wipe out of all rhino populations in Swaziland between November 1988 and December 1992. During these four years, Swaziland lost more than 70% of its rhinos to poaching, in what became generally known as the Rhino War. This resulted in upgraded legislation and many judicial conmfrontations.
A drought in Dec 1992 also affected rhino numbers.
No rhino poaching incident reported since Dec 1992.
