"Transferring the hairy rhinoceros from her traveling den to her cage". This wood engraving from The Graphic, a British Weekly depicts the young female sumatran rhino, a type of Rhinoceros Lasiotis as it arrives at the London Zoo in 1872. It lived there for another twenty seven years. Wood engraving (15 x 22.7 cm) by Ernest Henri Griset (1844-1907). The man wearing a tophat behind the animal’s head must be Abraham Dee Bartlett.
